Review Andrew Wheeler

About Me

Andrew D. Wheeler attended the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, and graduated with a Juris Doctorate of law in 2002.  While attending Cumberland, Andrew was active in numerous legal writing opportunities, won awards for legal writing and was selected as a member of the Cumberland Law Review in his first year.  Andrew was then accepted to the Cumberland Study Abroad Program and attended Durham University in Durham, England.  Andrew studied comparative and international law, the European Union and intellectual property law before returning to the United States.  Andrew then completed a variety of courses that focused on transactional law and business principles, including corporate and individual taxation, mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcy and laws concerning internet commerce and regulation.  In his final year of law school, Andrew worked as a research assistant and intern for Chief Magistrate Judge John Ott in the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Alabama, assisting in the drafting of judicial opinions and the administration of court proceedings.

Andrew is licensed to practice law in both Florida and Alabama, and has practiced law for the past twelve years.  Andrew independently owned and operated a solo law firm, The Wheeler Firm, LLC, for ten years before joining with Matthews & Jones, LLP.  Andrew believes clients desire representation from attorneys who have a thorough understanding of their specific legal issues.  Therefore, after beginning as a general practitioner, Andrew focused his career on family law and appellate matters for the past ten years and continues to concentrate on those areas.  Andrew has represented over 1,000 clients in divorce, adoption, custody, alimony and child support proceedings.  In 2012, Andrew began teaching adoption law courses to other attorneys as a faculty member of the National Business Institute.  Andrew is also experienced in appellate matters, representing clients in civil and criminal proceedings in state and federal appellate courts.
