About Me

I'm originally from Carlisle, Pennsylvania.  I graduated from John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio and attended Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville. I began mycareer working for a statewide civil defense firm defending insurance companies and employers against workers' compensation claims.  I sought courtroom experience and had the desire to help others and accepted a position with the Public Defender’s Office.  I practiced in Nassau and Duval Counties gaining valuable experience in Misdemeanor, Juvenile and Felony law. I have successfully represented clients in all stages of criminal proceedings including motion practice and trials.  Prior to joining Willis Lucas Law Group, I represented individuals in the Repeat Offender Court (ROC), where almost all clients face mandatory minimum or enhanced sentences.  I vigorously defend my clients against enhanced sentences involving Florida’s 10/20/Life, Habitual Felony Offender, Habitual Violent Felony Offender and Prison Release Reoffender statutes.

I also worked as a senior assistant public defender and private criminal attorney in my home town of Carlisle, Pennsylvania.   I handled all levels of cases, from traffic infractions to homicide charges.

I understand the life changing consequences when one is accused of a crime.  I pride myself as an attorney who listens and communicates often with his clients becoming their advocate in the legal system.

I am proud to also use my passion of serving people to help my clients get rightful justice when injured through the negligence of others.

If you have been injured or have been accused of a crime, do not hesitate to contact Doug at Willis Lucas Law Group at (904) 270-8707 or via our online email form today.
