Practice Area: Criminal Defense
Outcome: Child Abuse Charges in Jacksonville Dropped
Description: Our client, J.D., was arrested for child abuse in Jacksonville. This is a third degree felony punishable for up to 5 years in prison. J.D.'s 4 year-old daughter went to school and the teacher reported that the child had a black eye. The child told investigators that her dad, J.D., hit her and told her not to say anything about it. Police spoke to J.D.'s wife, the child's mother. She told police she was in the other room and heard J.D. yelling at the daughter and heard a slap. The child began crying. The mother allegedly told police she was afraid to say anything to police because she was scared J.D. would get into trouble. After investigating the case further, our Jacksonville Child Abuse Attorneys were able to get the felony child abuse charge dropped.
