I graduated from U.F. in 1980 with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. I was then offered a Fellowship for joint studies in Law/Public Admininstration through U.F. Under that program, I was awarded my Masters Degree in Political Science/Public Administration in 1983 and my Juris Doctorate (With Honors) in 1984.
I started working for the Broward County Attorney's Office in Fort Lauderdale and spent the next nine years within their litigation section, trying hundreds of cases, handling thousands of additional cases, and becoming proficient in eminent domain, personal injury defense, and civil rights. As a result, I was offered a position with the Miami-based firm of Kubicki Draper to assist the firm in establishing a government/commercial law section within its Fort Lauderdale office. For the next three years, I oversaw a staff of 3-5 attorneys, plus clerical and paralegal assistants, condemned hundreds of properties on behalf of various governmental entities, and provided representation to financial institutions and commercial construction companies, all the while maintaining a full trial-based practice.
In 1995 I was hired by GEICO Insurance Companies as in-house counsel to defend their higher exposure and more serioius lawsuits. One year later, I joined the City of Pompano Beach as Senior Assistant City Attorney where, for the next seven years, I provided litigation support and land use services, representing the City's various boards, agencies, commissions and officers, while continiuing to practice trial law for the City in all levels of the courts, both state and federal as well as administrative.
In 2002 I moved north to Volusia County and became Assistant County Attorney within the Volusia County Attorney's Office Litigation Section, concentrating on the more specialized and out of the ordinary litigation matters such as defending the County from the NAACP challenge to the 2000 election results; handling the Dale Earnhardt autopsy photograph issue before the Florida Supreme Court, defending beach driving from challenges involving environmental groups, handling challenges from telcommunication companies for placement of cell phone towers, water rights challenges before the Public Service Commission (PSC), challenges to the County's Comprehensive Plan before the Department of Community Affairs (DCA), and more routine matters such as car and bus accidents, slip and falls within public buildings, parks, and on sidewalks, streets, etc.
In 2004 I was recruited by the Palm Coast law firm of Chiumento & Davenport (n/k/a Chiumento & Guntharp, P.A.) to handle their litigation arising from land use, construction and real estate issues. I soon developed a thriving litigation practice which included property management issues, landlord-tenant clients, family law matters, and personal injury plaintiffs.
In 2007 I joined with Timonthy J. Conner, who had enjoyed a long and distinguished legal career within Flagler County since the 1980's, and the majority of my clients followed to the new firm of Conner Bosch Law, P.A. While Mr. Conner generally limits his practice to estate planning, probate and real estate, I handle the related litigation issues as well as continue to practice family law, landlord-tenant law and construction law. I have a strong base of clients who are in need of foreclosure assistance, both lenders and borrowers, I also assist real estate sales people, brokers and agents, with complaints before the Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC) or the local real estate commission. A small but significant portion of my legal representation is involved in transactional matters, both residential and commercial sales/purchases. Finally, I have been retained by the City of Orlando to act as a part-time hearing officer to hear appeals from their various land use and zoning boards, and more recently, I was retained by the City of Flagler Beach as their Special Magistrate for Code Enforcement.
Between my partner Tim Conner and myself, we have nearly 55 years of legal experience to call upon in serving the needs of the region, including Flagler, St. Johns, Volusia, Putnam, Seminole, Orange and Osceola.
