About me

Since 2005, Justin R. Arnold has both defended and prosecuted those charged with traffic and criminal offenses throughout south Georgia.  Justin graduated cum laude with honors in Political Science from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi. Justin received his law degree from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in 2005 where he also completed its certificate program in Advanced Legal Writing, Research, and Drafting. While at Mercer, he was a member of the William A. Bootle American Inn of Court and received the Walker P. Johnson, Jr. Memorial Award which recognizes “a graduating senior who has demonstrated excellence in litigation skills and a keen sense of professionalism and ethics.”

Upon completing his legal education, he returned to Americus and joined the law firm of Barnes, Farr & NeSmith as an associate. While in private practice, he handled a wide-variety of commercial litigation, criminal defense, domestic relations, and probate matters. He also served as the Municipal Court Judge for the City of Ideal, Georgia. In 2010, Justin joined the Office of the District Attorney of the Southwestern Judicial Circuit, which serves six counties in southwest Georgia, including Sumter. While trying numerous felony and misdemeanor cases to judges and juries throughout the circuit, Justin was also responsible for the Office’s appellate practice.

Justin has served on the boards of Americus Literacy Action, Inc. (ALAI), the Americus-Sumter County Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Development Authority of Americus, the Rotary Club of Americus and the Southwestern Judicial Circuit Bar Association. He is a graduate of Leadership Sumter and Georgia Forward’s Young Gamechangers Program. Justin is currently on the Steering Committee for the Renaissance Strategic Vision and Plan for the City of Americus. He is also a member of the Sumter Historic Trust and First United Methodist Church.
