Dedicating his practice to contested cases, with emphasis on DUI and criminal defnse, Mr. Ferris is an attorney who has served as lead counsel in dozens of jury trials and hundreds of bench trials during his career. He has helped clients win acquittals or reductions of DUI charges in countless cases. As an instructor for law enforcement officers, Mr. Ferris has taight classes on subjects ranging from DUI case investigation to the proper handling of cases that involve suspects with mental health issues.
Mr. Ferris is a former DUI prosecutor. He prosecuted DUI cases in Athens, Georgia and served as conflict counsel to prosecuting offices in the metro Atlanta area. For the last nine years, he has concentrated on defending drivers accused of DUI. Drawing on his knowledge of proper police procedure, and his training as a standarized field sobriety testing instructor, he is able to point out mistakes in DUI investigations and disprove allegations of drunk driving.
Mr. Ferris is known for disproving DUI cases involving breath tests. Because he owns numerous breath testing instruments, including those used by Georgia police officers, sheriff's deputies, and state troopers, he is familiar with the weaknesses these machines have. In addition to portable breath testing devices, he owns an Intoxilyzer 5000 - the only machine that gives readings that are admissible in Georgia courts.
Mr. Ferris is not a "plea lawyer."If you want to accept a conviction for DUI, and can afford the severe consequences that come with it, he would be happy to refer you to one of the many local attorneys who routinely have their clients plea guilty to DUI.
