Attorney Schiavone inherited the case of a family member after the untimely death of his partner, Attorney T. Jackson. My family had worked very closely with Attorney Jackson for over three years and paid fees totaling $10,000 to provide representation in an appeals case ( murder).
It was not until months after the initial brief was written, when we contacted the office we were informed Attorney Jackson was deceased ( two months prior). To add to our surprise according to Attorney Steve Sparger, Attorney Jackson had taken a unfortunate fall apparently hitting his head (the description given to his brain after the fall was totaling in poor taste).
The issue we have as a family was the feeling of not "getting what we paid for". Due the fact Attorney Schiavone was not the initial attorney there were numerous times when it was apparent he was not familiar with ANY of the facts case facts. He also admitted appeals were not his area of speciality; he basically felt we didn't have a leg to stand on ( of course he couldn't just come out and say it but ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS).
In a nutshell as a family we were out of over $10,000; our family member is still incarcerated after exhausting all appeals; and a feeling that the entire case was handled out of obligation to his partner -who had initially started the process.
Mr. Schiavone has represented me and quite a few people I know. He is very professional and seems to "care" about his clients' outcome of the cases that he represents. He has what it takes to stand up to the DA. He is one of the top criminal attorneys in the area and if you are a local to Savannah... you have heard his name. He knows the law and he has backbone.
