About Me

Mareesa Torres is a member of Taylor English’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice group working in its Savannah office.  Her practice includes a wide variety of litigation including personal injury and medical malpractice, employment litigation, corporate and commercial litigation matters as well as financial disputes on behalf of banking institutions.

Prior to joining Taylor English Ms. Torres was a litigator in Connecticut where her practice focused on insurance defense litigation for various insurance companies.  Her practice also included coverage reviews and opinions on behalf of the various insurers she represented.  She handled matters in both state and federal courts across Connecticut and has experience representing clients in various alternative dispute resolution forums.

Ms. Torres is a 2005 graduate of Quinnipiac University School of law where she received High Honors in the Civil Clinic, the Dean’s Award, the Service to the Law School Award and was the recipient of the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Award for diversity and service to her community.  Ms. Torres was an active member of the Connecticut Bar Association Young Lawyers Section (CBA YLS) from the time she was a law student until her move to Savannah in 2011.  She served as Law Student Liaison, Law Student Director, Professional Networking and Development Director and, most recently, Diversity Director.

Ms. Torres also served as the 2nd District Delegate (representing CT & RI) to the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division (ABA YLD) from 2006-2008 during which time she was called on to work with FEMA to coordinate disaster legal services for sections of Connecticut devastated by flooding.   In addition to her work with the CBA YLS and ABA YLD, Ms. Torres was also very active with her local bar associations and participated in a variety of community service and pro bono legal projects in and around Connecticut.  She is currently a member of the Savannah Young Lawyers and is coaching the H.V. Jenkins High School mock trial team.

Ms. Torres is an avid runner and a budding photographer.
