About me

Hometown & Education

I was born in Gainesville, Florida and grew up in Rome, Georgia. I attended Darlington School, a private day/boarding school located in Rome. I obtained my undergraduate degree from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, graduating summa cum laude, with a B.A. in History. I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2006 and was inducted into the Order of the Coif.

I have one sister , Paige, and a half-brother, Kevin. My mother is the director of student support services at Berry College in Rome, Georgia. My father is a physician.

Outside of Work; Hobbies & Interests

I enjoy cooking, reading, listening to music, and being outside.

I participate in a monthly science fiction book club which has caused me to read more and read books outside of the genre of books I would typically select. Recent selections from the book club include Brave New World, Life of Pi, The Sparrow, Children of God, Cormac McCarthy's The Road, Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged, Neil Gaiman's collection of short stories and poems Fragile Things, and Christopher Moore's Lamb.

Listening to Music & Radio

I am a big fan of Bruce Springsteen and have seen him in concert in London and twice in Atlanta (I realize that many "real" fans have seen him scores of times). I also enjoy classic rock bands such as Crosby, Stills & Nash and The Police.

I also enjoy listening to NPR on my drive to and from work and also try to listen on Saturday mornings because I find Car Talk hilarious and enjoy The Splendid Table as well as Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me.

Volunteering & Pro Bono Work

I attended Darlington School, a private day-boarding school in Rome, Georgia and worked as a professional in the development office of the school after graduating from college. Since finishing law school, I have volunteered for Darlington. At present, I serve on the Alumni Council, the Atlanta Campaign Cabinet for the current capital campaign, as a volunteer with phonathons, as co-class agent for the class of 1997, and as the alumni chair of the 2010-2011 Annual Fund.

Personal Blog

I have a personal blog at where I publish recipes, book reviews, and other things of interest to me.

I have known Michael for over 13 years. He is perhaps the most intellectualy gifted person I've had the opportunity to be associated with. That being said, his greatest qualities, in my estimation, are his character, attention to detail, and competency in the legal area he has chosen to practice-estate planning. Anyone represented by Michael can rest assured they are receiving top-notch legal expertise.
