If you marry someone with a child, no, you do not automatically become her child's father and would not be responsible for child support if you divorce later. For you to be legally responsible for her child, you would need to adopt the child.

  • Do I need an attorney?

I received a DUI on New Year's Eve which is the only trouble legally I've ever been in. I'm a teacher and this will look horrendous on my background. I am not looking to fight the case whatsoever but am trying to find a way I can get the charge dr...

Yes, you certainly need an attorney. I agree with the first response, there is no first offender treatment for DUI. However, a reckless isn't automatic even if it is your first offense - other factors come into play. For example, if you have a very high blood alcohol content, a first offense will not save you from a DUI. I would certainly retain an attorney to help you in this situation.

If there is a current custody order in place between your husband and his ex-wife, there may be a possible contempt action against the ex-wife.

    April’s Answer

It does not matter who holds title to the home. Even if the home was purchased by you prior to the marriage, it can still be considered a marital asset. Your husband could possibly receive one half of the marital portion of the equity in the home, if any. There are quite a few factors that go into asset division.
