About me

Lorene Schaefer, Esq., is an attorney who works as a mediator, impartial workplace investigator and expert witness in employer-employee relations cases. At Workplace Investigations Group, she conducts impartial investigations nationwide and delivers training on how to conduct an effective investigation. She is also a mediator with One Mediation, Inc. 

Prior to founding Workplace Investigations Group and joining One Mediation, Lorene practiced law for more than 20 years, including 14 years as in-house counsel at the General Electric Company where she was General Counsel of GE Transportation. Lorene blogs regularly at and is a trusted media resource providing a balanced perspective on workplace issues to various media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, Corporate Counsel, Inside Counsel and Business Insurance. 

In March 2013, Lorene was invited as an expert to testify before the EEOC. Her written testimony urged the EEOC to implement a pilot program incorporating a structured ADR process into the EEOC's post-cause conciliation process and to modify its investigation process for improved quality.
