Howard was genuine and very caring in handling my case. He really listens to you as a client and makes you feel like you in extremely capable hands. He made going through the whole process as tolerable as something like that can be. I hope I don't ever need him again, but I know if I do - he's there for me!

Howard Weintraub is masterful in the courtroom. This is as I perceived him as he deposed the arresting officer who mas moving to Afghanistan and the State moved to have his testimony preserved in my DUI/Less Safe Court case. He knew everything to ask and ascertain from the officer and was bold and aggressive in the treatment of Henry County's court system. His New York style and sense of humor made me feel like I was in the winning scene from "My Cousin Vinny". He was totally prepared and didn't hesitate to discredit the officer's testimony by any and all means. Howard wanted to take my case to court but in my best interest he was able to plea the charge down to reckless driving. I believe with a fair jury selection Howard could have won the case. He was not willing to take the chance however, that Henry County could lock me up for an extended time and impose all their punishments
that they would have. The mere fact that Howard got the charges dropped to reckless driving speaks of the hard work that Howard and his associate Ben Alper had done as Henry County never wants to let anything go.
Howard kept me informed throughout the affair of my case. He was always very kind and sympathetic about my case and answered all my questions and addressed my concerns through his knowledge and wisdom of the law. Earlier this year, I was charged with my 2nd DUI in three years, along with reckless driving and excessive speeding. Howard came highly recommended as our family found ourselves in need of a criminal attorney. From the outset, Howard's demeanor is professional yet "down to earth." Our family immediately felt that we were in good hands. Howard is not your stereotypical lawyer. His geniune concern/attention to our case was very comforting. When I was 15 years old Howard Weintraub represented my Grandfather in a murder case.

My Grandfather was charged with the murder of my father. After my father’s death I went to live with my grandparents. I had just lost my dad and it seemed I was going to lose my Grandpa also “to prison.” My Grandmother called Howard and he soon became a household name around our home. He was our only hope. My mother had charges against her as well. I remember all those years ago how great Mr. Weintraub was in the courtroom. He was very sharp, he made the prosecution look foolish and a probation officer just look stupid. Because I was only 15, Howard felt it would be better for the Judge to question me in the Judge’s chambers rather than in the courtroom, so at the end of the trial Howard and I went into chambers with the Judge to answer the Judges final questions. It was hard for me at the age of 15 to face this situation. Howard made this easy for me, being by my side. He became a hero of mine keeping my loved ones from spending the rest of their lives in prison. The final verdict was 2 years of probation.

Now I am 31 years old, in need of a lawyer again to help my family. My sister has a prescription drug problem and has been charged with 35 counts of forgery. We went to Howard with this situation and did not have the fee he required for a case such as this.

My case involved an extremely complicated environment that highlights the pitfalls of trusting a close, personal friend to our family that was secretly (to my lack of knowledge), involved in the illegal use of a company’s patents across state lines. My personal background was one of being totally blemish free; basically, I had never, ever received a driver citation or a parking ticket in my life; to put it lightly, I was scared to death and totally stressed out. Never in my life would I have ever thought I would ever be arrested for anything. Then after helping local Police in an investigation regarding money laundering by Arab middle easterners, I was arrested by the FBI, and charged with impersonating a government official. When we hired Mr. Weintraub I was facing 20 years in prison with a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years. All of his decisions in representing me proved to be 100 % correct. He was able to get me a bond, so after I was arrested I stayed in jail for less than one day and Iwas back home with my family. Over several months, Howard Weintraub analyzed and thoroughly reviewed the government’s evidence against me and planned the strategy on how to defend me.

The decision was made by Mr. Weintraub and our family to have me plead guilty to conspiracy. I pled guilty in June, 2010. My daughter was arrested for DUI and given numerous traffic citations three days after graduating from high school. After searching for an attorney that specialized in representing minors charged with alcohol /drug related offenses, I was referred to Howard by a friend of the family.
At our first meeting, Howard agreed to represent my daughter and immediately put together a defense strategy including a 15 point action plan. My son was the victum of an internet scam boasting a $500 free gift card for a quick click of a mouse to accept. Unfortunately, no gift certificate was forthcoming; instead, my son began receiving reams of magazines at his college apartment, that were neither ordered, nor wanted. What can I say about Howard? Almost four years ago I was charged with my first DUI and I logically stressed out. I felt like I had a broken a law, but I felt like the police force stepped way out of their bounds. I immediately started researching attorneys in Atlanta, and eventually placed a call to Howard's office with the intention of comparing him to two others.

I never even needed to call another attorney to determine who would be best because I already got the sense that Howard was my guy. His receptionist was very kind and accommodating, and Howard had me in immediately. While I was only in college at the time, I felt like Howard leveled with me as an adult, and I could tell he was very honest, hard-working, and knowledgeable. I had a few initial meetings, and he put me at ease. I did not question his tactics of holding off any trials and delaying any actions.

Not one year went by when I got another DUI. I immediately called Howard. He did not yell at me and become condescending that I had not learned my lesson, but instead calmly talked me through our next steps. I knew that my fate was in good hands.

Three years later, Howard’s tactic of waiting forced an error on the part of the prosecutor, who did not bind either case over until after the statute of limitations. I know that many nights of prayers were answered, but I believe that God answered my prayers by bringing me to a very good man who helped me out. I have definitely learned my lesson and I rarely even have a drink, but never before jumping behind the wheel. I have also made a new friend and have formed hopefully a lifelong professional relationship.

Two other details that also make Howard’s small “firm” an easy choice. His new attorney assistant is great (recent Emory grad, also Howard’s alma mater) and his receptionist is fantastic. If you go in to the office for a visit and wind up chatting with the receptionist, she will keep you laughing and smiling for at least an hour!

People, I have read your posts about money. It is a very expensive task to go up against the State, and an overwhelming task to go up against the FEDS, they print the money. But, this is your only shot. Wait till your doing ten plus years in Prison, and getting quotes of 25,000 dollars plus to file an appeal. An appeal is just paper writing, no PI work, interviews, depositions, trial time.. Don't be stingy, spend the money- your freedom is worth every penny. In 2005 my son was wrongfully convicted by a jury in Carroll County Superior Court of aggravated child molestation and he was sentenced to ten years. I was arrested for DUI in September, 2006. After searching for a good lawyer to represent me, a friend of mine highly recommended that I use Howard Weintraub as my attorney. What a wonderful choice that was! According to the Georgia State Patrol trooper who pulled me over because I was speeding, I had a strong odor of alcohol on my breath, my eyes were watery and bloodshot, and I stumbled when I walked outside of my car. Also, the trooper claimed that I had 6 out of 6 clues on the eye examination and that I swayed very badly during that test. I also registered .141 on the alcosensor. After the trooper arrested me, I agreed to take the breath test at the police station and I blew almost 1 1/4 times the legal limit.

After representing me for over 2 1/2 years, in December, 2008 Howard Weintraub was successful in convincing the judge in Fulton County State Court to dismiss my entire case. Because of Howard Weintraub’s efforts I was not found guilty of anything: not even of speeding (which I clearly was guilty of). Because of Howard Weintraub’s representation of me I never lost my license and I continue to have a clean record, free of any criminal convictions.

One morning, at approximately 1:30 a.m., I was pulled over by a police officer in DeKalb County for supposedly speeding and failing to pull over when passing a stationary police vehicle that had activated emergency lights. The officer asked me how much I had to drink that night and after I responded he proceeded to investigate me for DUI. The officer concluded that I didn’t do well on the eye test and the two balancing tests and he said that I tested positive on the hand-held breath testing device. I then was arrested for DUI and I took a breath test at the police station where I registered 1 1/2 times the legal limit, as I tested at .124.

My job duties required me to drive outside of Georgia and a DUI conviction would have cost me my job. I needed a real good lawyer to get me out of this mess. After speaking with several attorneys who handled DUI cases, I decided to hire Howard Weintraub. I certainly made the right decision and retained the right lawyer.

Mr. Weintraub did a fantastic job in defending my case. He filed a motion asking the judge to throw out all of the evidence gathered by the officer: including the officer’s observations of me (such as his claims that I was speeding, did not yield to the officer’s stationary vehicle, had an odor of alcohol, bloodshot eyes, slurred speech); my admission that I had been drinking; my performances on all of the field sobriety evaluations; and my .124 breath test result.

The judge held a hearing and agreed with all of Howard Weintraub’s arguments, disagreed with the arguments of the prosecutors, and then suppressed all of the evidence against me. The prosecutors appealed my case to the Georgia Court of Appeals and, in January of 2009, the Court of Appeals agreed with the judge and affirmed the ruling that threw out all of the evidence.

My nightmare is over. Because of Howard Weintraub I was not convicted of anything arising out of the incident, much less a DUI. Now I can live with no suspension of my Georgia driver’s license. Because of Howard Weintraub I was not convicted of DUI and still have a clean record.
