Description:Recently, the Marks Law Group, LLC secured a significant victory for a client in a disputed slip and fall case against a major national retailer. The client, a married mother of two young boys, was permanently injured when she slipped in a puddle of water on the floor of a retail store in the Atlanta area. She fell down and sustained serious damage to her back. Store employees knew of the leaking water fountain earlier that day, but failed to fix the fountain, clear the area, or warn people of the water on the floor. As a result of the fall, the woman suffered back pain so intense and debilitating that she had no choice but to undergo surgery. She ultimately endured a complex and dangerous spinal fusion surgery, which carries the risk of very serious complications, including death, paralysis, bowel or bladder injury, persistent or worsening pain, infection, and the need for reoperation. Thankfully, the surgery went smoothly, and while the client is much improved, she still suffers from pain and a restricted range of movement, impairments that may be permanent. We were able to obtain a significant settlement for the client, fully compensating her for her medical bills (which totaled over $250,000), as well as her pain and suffering. I am proud to have helped our client return to her life and her family with the financial stability she otherwise would lack. Due to the settlement obtained for her by the Marks Law Group, she does not have to bear the financial burden of this retailer’s negligence.
