Lance Newton Owen

also known as Lance N. Owen

About me

I was born in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and grew up in a small town in southwest Georgia called Blakely.  My parents were both teachers. My father was my high school football coach.   I graduated from Early County High School in 1987.

I attended the University of Georgia with the expectation of becoming an Air Force pilot. Just a few months away from being commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force I decided to go to law school.

I graduated from the University of Georgia in 1992 with a degree in Political Science.   I received my law degree from the University of Memphis in 1995.  After taking the Georgia bar exam I accepted an associate position with the firm of my current partner, William G. Johnston, III.  We have been practicing together now for over 20 years.

I believe the most important attribute of any attorney engaged in the practice of any area of law is that the lawyer should be honest with his or her clients.  The lawyer shouldn't promise any outcome.   The lawyer should give solid, honest advice to the client and dedicate himself to to achieving the client's desired objections while at the same times advising the client as to whether or not he or she is being unreasonable....or "giving away the farm".

A lawyer should be available to his clients.  It is easy for attorneys (including myself) to forget that the legal process is sometimes intimidating to clients and that the uncertainty of outcome and result is sometimes overwhelming.  I believe that clients need to be updated about developments in their case.  Clients need to understand what has occurred in their case and what may lie ahead.  My firm strives to keep our clients "in the loop".

If you are reading this short biography then perhaps you need to schedule an appointment with me to discuss a legal matter?  I might be the right attorney for you, or I might not be. Regardless, don't make the decision to hire an attorney, including myself, based solely on what you read on or any other Internet resource.  Meet your lawyer in person and then make your decision.  Good luck!
