TAKING CASES IN GEORGIA, MARYLAND, WASHINGTON, DC, AND NEW YORK
I have 20 years in a variety of legal matters. My background includes representing small and large companies, public officials, and individuals. I started practice in 1994 in Baltimore at a large nationally recognized corporate firm.
After working as an associate for four years at that firm, I practiced for two years at a Washington, DC environmental firm that represented large oil and gas companies in breach of contract actions, personal injury cases, and administrative matters in approximately 20 states.
In 2001, I started as a senior associate at a large and well respected insurance defense firm with over 200 attorneys. During my tenure there, I worked on several aviation, trucking, and contact matters throughout the United States.
For the last 12 years, I have taken the experience obtained from my corporate law firm life and have used it to represent small business owners and individuals in a variety of matters from corporate formation, landlord tenant matters, contract formation and disputes, shareholder disputes, business litigation, estate planning, family law matters, civil rights claims, general litigation, and employment cases.
I also handle small claim breach of contract matters. However, those small cases are taken on a hourly rate basis only. As a result, it is not economically efficient for small claim litigants to hire me unless their claims are $10,000 or above.
I perform short screening consultations by phone or e-mail to avoid wasting the time and money of those whom I believe I cannot assist. As of 2015, I charge between $80-$160 per hour for initial consultations. During the initial consultation, I provide substantive information to potential clients. Therefore, their money is well spent, and there is no pressure to hire me after the initial consultation.
A significant number of my clients refer family and friends to my firm. Moreover, many of my old clients return to ask me questions on new matters or to hire me for additional legal services. I am proud of the service I provide my clients. I have about a 90 - 95% satisfaction rate because of my service and my willingness to fight for their rights (win or lose). When those good clients return for additional work, I am more than happy to provide my services. As with any business person, for the ones who don't pay, who think I'm available 24/7, who have unreasonable expectations, or who don't want to listen to advice, I'm glad to see them go elsewhere because they take me away from helping those who appreciate my assistance and hard work.
As of 2015, I will no longer take contingency rate cases. My hourly rates range from $150/hr. to $375/hr. I charge flat fees on some matters. I no longer take payment plans because of problems with some clients complying with those arrangements. However, I accept credit and debit cards. So, clients can make convenient payment arrangments with their credit card companies. The alternative is to borrow from a family member or close friend.
Hourly ($200-500/hour), Fixed (Sometimes), Retainer (Always)
