I believed I had a very strong case for my condition and I filed my original application. Knowing the process and I would be denied initially, I searched for a Law Firm that dealt mainly with SSD, Veterans benefits and that was local so I chose Thomas O'Brian. I was very impressed as I was contacted weekly from his office by Ms. Sugg and was updated at at each step. With Mr. O'Brien taking my case at the point when I was denied, (it was at the 2 months point) he obtained all my medical evidence and presented it to Social Security and was to schedule my hearing at the second denial. I was shocked when I was approve before a hearing was even scheduled. The FOUR months the law firm had my case they presented all my medical evidence very quickly to the SSD approval board and I received my approval.
From start to Approval was 6 1/2 months for me and I know choosing the right lawyer made all the difference, thank you Mr. O'Brien and Ms. Sugg .

I had the pleasure of working with Mr. O'Brien and Tracy for close to 3 years. Originally, Mr. O'Brien was not my lawyer, but I am very thankful for fate. Mr. O'Brien was wonderful to work with. This was my first time ever being face to face with a judge. When he took over my case, I felt I felt much more at ease. Tracy was so professional and so very kind! I feel so grateful. Thank you all so very much. Best wishes to the previous attorney, as I am sure he will go far as well. Thank you all! I highly recommend this practice!

Everytime I called with a question or update needed Tracy Sugg paralegal for Mr O'Brien was professional, courteous and timely. During this stressful time she always allayed my anxiety. I would refer family or friends to the firm without hesitation

I chose Mr. O'Brien over a much larger, highly recommended firm and am glad I did. The staff stayed on top of my case and checked in with me periodically to make sure my medical records were always up to date. Although it is rare, I received a ruling in my favor at the hearing. I would highly recommend Mr. O'Brien to anyone in need of a disability attorney.

The wonderful reviews Mr. O'Brien had was what originally led me to contact his office. I wasn"t interested in one of those "smoozy" t.v. attorneys. I had already been denied twice. I contacted his office on line and Mr. O'Brien contacted me although he was on vacation, now that's customer service! Judy is Mr. O'Brien's right hand lady and she will be your primary contact. She works very hard at obtaining medical records and other pertinent information.
Judy will need your cooperation in getting some of the information but let me tell you she gets a whole lot more of your information than she ever ask you to get. I don't know how she kept up with all of my medical records - there were A LOT of them.
Typically you don't meet with Mr. O'Brien until very close to your judicial hearing. However, I wanted to meet the people I was entrusting my future with sooner than that. He gladly obliged and in that meeting walked me through what to expect through the rest of the process which is what I needed to hear.
If you are just getting started in the disability process please know this is a LONG process. It took over 2 years for me to get my approval. However, this is not a system you want to navigate on your own. Mr. O'Brien and Judy know what needs to be done and they get it done! They have NO control over the time it takes that is the system not them.
They are knowledgeable and honest people. Mr. O'Brien KNOWS disability law and he will work hard to get you what you deserve. I personally would rather still be working than to be disabled but when thrown the disability curve ball you want Mr. O'Brien to be your catcher!

I have an autonomic disorder, and I applied for SSD benefits back in 2012. I was eventually denied and contacted Mr. O'Brien's firm to help me with my appeal. (I just Googled for firms that were close to my North Georgia home, and looked for good reviews. I don't think I found this site, however.)
The process of waiting for a hearing to be scheduled took well over a year, but it finally happened about a month ago and I'm thrilled to say that I received a favorable decision last week. I'm so relieved.
Mr O'Brien seemed very well informed and knowledgeable, and did a great job of explaining to me what was happening and what to expect. Very personable. He was very professional during the actual hearing and seemed to have a good and friendly rapport with the judge. I felt like I was in good hands every time I had contact with Mr. O'Brien.
I must also mention his assistant, (associate?) Tracy Sugg. She was the one that did a lot of the prep work for my case: Getting all my doctor's records together, filing paperwork, and most importantly, answering all my dumb questions over the many months this process took. She was great. She even helped me find cheap medical care after I became unable to afford my regular doctor. She and Thomas make a great team.
As a layman, it's difficult for me to make a judgement about Mr. O'Brien's actual lawyer'n skills, but he succeeded in doing what I hired him to do, and was a pleasure to work with during the entire process. That's all I could have asked for.

I was set to file my disablity and I looked online for a lawyer. I contacted Mr. O'Brien and within 30 mins He had emailed me back. I called and talked to him that day even though it was close to his time to leave work. I have been waiting for over 2 years to get my disablity but through out this process, Mr. O'Brien and his staff both Judy and Tracy have been there to give me updates and to answer any questions I have had. They have called me to keep me up to date. Over all I look forward to having Mr O'Brien by my side when we face the judge. I can not say enough about them. If you are looking for a good lawyer who will fight for you. He is the one you want.

A family member had applied for social security disability and on being denied, requested a hearing. We attended the first scheduled hearing without an attorney. We didn't realize how unprepared or how little we knew about the process until we got there. At the judge's suggestion, we rescheduled the hearing in order to allow time to locate an attorney. We called 2 or 3 (attorneys) but they either didn't return our call or didn't have time for our case. Luckily we contacted Mr. O'Brien's office, and after obtaining and reviewing information from us about our case, he immediately "took the bull by the horns" and relieved us from having to spend countless time and energy contacting physicians and medical facilities to get updated records, obtaining earnings records, etc. His legal assistant, Tracy Suggs, continually kept us informed and updated on a regular basis throughout the process. We have never dealt with a more patient, knowledgeable and compassionate legal assistant and attorney. Most importantly, he met with us prior to our hearing to discuss how it would be conducted, what we should expect and to put us more at ease. Without Mr. O'Brien's help, we are certain we would not have won our case. We will be recommending him to anyone who is in need of an attorney.

After I was restructured out of a job, I retained Thomas O’Brien to review my severance package contract. Most of it seemed straight forward, but I wanted it looked over by a lawyer before signing. I’m glad I did. Thomas found several points of concern, which could potentially restrict my ability to find new employment and/or the type of employment I could accept. With Thomas’ council, I was able to negotiate more favorable terms of the contract with my former employer. I highly recommend Thomas O’Brien for clear concise legal advice.

Mr. O'Brien demonstrated a clear understanding of the law and our specific situation. He communicated clearly between myself and the other party and made it possible for us to come to a mutually agreed upon resolution.
