Edward Logan Butler IV

also known as E. Logan Butler

About me

Logan Butler dedicates his practice to criminal defense, employment law and a highly specialized local government practice providing legal services to Sheriff’s Offices and other Law Enforcement Agencies.  Mr. Butler has handled thousands of criminal cases and successfully defended drug crimes, DUI, sex crimes, major felonies, family violence, juvenile offenses, misdemeanors, probation revocations and all other criminal matters.  For the client charged with a crime, understanding the law and the variety of defenses available is of utmost importance.  Mr. Butler recognizes the hardship criminal charges place on the client and he strongly believes in a client centered practice.  Mr. Butler will investigate your case and zealously defend you.

Mr. Butler has previously served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Piedmont Judicial Circuit (Barrow, Jackson and Banks Counties) and in the Bell-Forsyth Judicial Circuit (Forsyth County).  He has also worked for the Prosecuting Attorney’s Council of Georgia and served as an Assistant Solicitor for the municipal Court of the City of Cumming.  As a former prosecutor, Mr. Butler knows the angles and arguments the State will make in their prosecution against you.  He uses that knowledge to prepare the best defense to your criminal charges.

Mr. Butler also represents Constitutional Officers such as Sheriffs and provides a variety of legal services to law enforcement agencies.  The perspective of a prosecutor and defense attorney provides valuable insight into the many issues a law enforcement agency faces on a daily basis, especially 4th Amendment and 8th Amendment issues.  Additionally, Mr. Butler recognizes that a law enforcement agency is a business that must make valid business decisions, especially in the area of employment issues.  Mr. Butler can assist your agency in developing employment policies, handling employment issues, civil service and department of labor appeals hearings and reductions in force/restructuring.

Mr. Butler graduated from Mars Hill College in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology.  He worked as a biologist helping industry, land owners and land developers navigate the variety of rules and regulations imposed on them by the state and federal governments.  His work as a biologist inspired him to change careers and he enrolled in law school at Georgia State University’s College of Law.  Mr. Butler was a member of the College of Law’s Moot Court and served on the Moot Court Board as Vice President of Appellate Advocacy.  Mr. Butler graduated cum laude and has been a member of the State Bar of Georgia since 2005.
