About Me

John Cleveland ("Cleve") Hill is the managing partner of Bettis, Hill, and Vann, LLC. Mr. Hill began his law practice in 2004 at Powell Goldstein LLP (now Bryan Cave), one of Atlanta's oldest and largest law firms, where he practiced corporate bankruptcy and financial restructuring law.  In 2007, Mr. Hill returned to his passion for helping individuals, families, the disabled, the elderly, and small businesses by exclusively focusing his practice in the areas of estate planning, including wills, trusts, special needs planning, powers of attorney, health care directives, probate and estate administration, conservatorships and guardianships, small business entity formation and business succession planning.   The firm's deliberate focus in these specific areas runs the gambit: from the simple to the immensely complex.   For their expertise in the field, Mr. Hill and Mrs. Vann were selected by fellow attorneys statewide for Georgia Trend Magazine's "Legal Elite" 2012 in the area of Wills/Estates/Taxes.  Mr. Hill was recognized in June 2013 by the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce as a "10 in 10 Young Professional to Watch."

A native of Cherokee County, Georgia, Mr. Hill attended Sequoyah High School and graduated as its salutatorian in 1997.  He then attended Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia, where he received his B.A., magna cum laude, in 2001. While at Oglethorpe, Mr. Hill was very active in campus life and served two terms as student body president.  At graduation, he received the prestigious James Edward Oglethorpe Cup, which is awarded annually by the faculty of the university to an outstanding senior, along with the Pattillo Leadership Prize, the Charles Longstreet Weltner Award, and was an inaugural recipient of the President's Community Service Award.

Mr. Hill attended the Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law in Macon, Georgia where he obtained his J.D.,cum laude, in 2004. While at Mercer, Mr. Hill served on the Editorial Board of the Mercer Law Review and graduated in the top 10% of his class.  He was admitted to practice in Georgia in 2004 and is a member of the State Bar of Georgia's Fiduciary Law Section and the Estate Planning Council of North Georgia.

Mr. Hill resides in Canton, Georgia with his wife, Allie, daughter, Olivia, son, Benjamin, and puppy, Reagan.  The Hills attend Woodstock First Baptist Church.

He remains active at his alma mater where he proudly serves as a Trustee on the Oglethorpe University Board of Trustees, a position that he has held since 2011, having previously served from 2007 to 2009 as the young alumni member of the Board. Mr. Hill chaired the Trustee's Campus Life Committee for the 2008-2009 and 2011-2013 academic terms.  Mr. Hill served as President of the Oglethorpe University Alumni Association from 2011 to 2013.  He is a board member of the Rotary Club of Milton-Windward and serves on the club's nonprofit foundation board.  Mr. Hill also proudly serves on the Board of Directors for Act Together Ministries, a nonprofit organization focused on serving children in need in the North Metro area.
