I have been a practicing trial attorney for over 23 years since graduating from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1989. Prior to becoming a lawyer, I was a Registered Nurse (RN) where I graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in 1984. After having actually care for and treated serious injury victims, I decided to go to law school and help injury victims recover their losses through the Courts. My medical background gives me a tremendous advantage in reviewing records and explaining complex injury cases. I enjoy the challenge of serious injury cases and the rewards in changing clients' lives for the better. In workers' compensation and accident cases, I will give you my best to make sure you get everything the law allows. I know and appreciate your family is counting on me.
In my criminal practice, I limit my caseload to DUI / DWI arrests. I love to try cases and get in front of juries. In our civil practice, I have to convince 12 jurors. In criminal cases, I only need 1 juror to prevail. Police are there to protect the public and do their job. But the laws and penalties for first time DUI / DWI are extremely harsh and very expensive. And many times, our clients have had a couple of beers or glasses of wine and are arrested even though they are perfectly able to drive safely. It is not difficult to "blow 0.08" If you plead guilty or are convicted, you can expect to pay in excess of $10k over the next three years. You need an experienced and aggressive trial lawyer, and I will fight to protect your record and ability to drive in both SC and NC.
