Jay Holland is a Partner and member of Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP's Litigation and Health Care Practice Groups. Jay represents clients in state and federal courts on a wide range of issues including financial services, real estate, professional liability, product liability, employment, transporation and insurance matters. Jay represents banking, loan servicing, insurance, health care and other corporate entities, as well as closely-held companies and individuals. Jay also has defended professional liability actions, representing health care institutions, health care providers and attorneys.
Prior to joining Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP, Jay worked seven years in the insurance industry as a claims consultant. He investigated and managed hundreds of property and casualty claims, including automobile liability, business interruption, commercial general liability, fidelity, inland marine, medical professional, premises liability and product liability claims. Jay has represented various clients in tort actions, including insurance companies and their insureds, in the defense of automobile liability, general liability, premises liability, and medical malpractice claims. He also counsels clients on insurance and risk management matters, and insurance regulations.
Jay and his wife, Brandi, have three sons. They are members of Wesleyan Chapel United Methodist Church in Wilmington, NC. Jay is active in civic and community affairs, including coaching youth baseball.
