I have been a practicing trial attorney for over 25 years since graduating from the University of South Carolina School of Law. I am licensed to practice in both South Carolina (1989) and North Carolina (1996).
Criminal Practice - We focus our practice on DUI / DWI cases. I enjoy trying cases and getting in front of juries. In our civil practice, my clients have the burden of proof, and I have to convince 12 jurors to win. In criminal cases, the State has to prove their case, and we only need 1 juror to "hang" the jury and force the government to negotiate or retry the case. The laws and penalties for even a first time DUI / DWI are extremely harsh and have permanent consequences. This is why I have obtained the same training as police on DWI Investigation and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing. If you place your trust in our firm, you can expect experienced and aggressive representation. We will review the State's evidence and make certain they can prove you guilty beyond a reasonable doubt before we review your options. We will answer all of your questions so that you can make the best decision in your case.
Personal Injury Practice - Prior to becoming a lawyer, I was a Registered Nurse (RN) where I graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in 1984. After having actually cared for and treated serious injury victims, I decided to go to law school to help injury victims recover their losses through the Courts. My medical background gives me insights when reviewing treatment records and explaining complex injury cases to insurance adjusters or juries. I enjoy the challenge of serious injury cases and the rewards in helping clients lives get through some of the most difficult times in their lives. I pledge to give you my very best effort and appreciate the trust you are placing in me. I know you and your family are counting on me.
