Barbara J. Rynne is a dynamic litigator with over 15 years of criminal trial experience as both a prosecutor and defense attorney. She has tried over 100 jury trials as lead counsel. A firm believer in justice and fairness, she provides her clients with strong and skilled advocacy, while maintaining a compassionate touch.
Barbara began her career as an Assistant Prosecutor in the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, in Freehold, NJ. She was first assigned to Prosecutor John Kaye, as his Special Assistant, while he held office as the President of the National District Attorney’s Association. From there she moved to various trial teams and was responsible for prosecuting felonies ranging from drug offenses to armed robbery, assault and murder. After being licensed to practice in North Carolina, she worked briefly for The Dummit Law Firm, before returning to prosecution as an Assistant District Attorney in the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office. As a Mecklenburg County Assistant District Attorney, Barbara was responsible for prosecuting both misdemeanors and felonies while assigned to the Domestic Violence Unit and Habitual Felon Team. Barbara rejoined Dummit Fradin in January, 2010.
Barbara is licensed to practice in both the Federal and State Courts of New Jersey and North Carolina, and the State Courts of Pennsylvania. She concentrates her practice on criminal, including criminal domestic, and became a NC Board Certified Specialist in Criminal State Law in 2012. She was recently recognized by the American Society of Legal Advocates as one of the Top 100 Criminal Defense Attorneys in NC. As a defense attorney, Barbara vigorously represents clients charged with a wide variety of crimes, from misdemeanor offenses to capital murder, in Mecklenburg, Stokes, Forsyth, Union and Gaston Counties.
Outside of the law, Barbara is a mother to four children, including a set of triplets. She volunteers her time as a Girl Scout Cadet Troop Leader, and SwimMAC team parent. She enjoys spending time with her children and attending their various sporting events, including softball, football, basketball and swimming.
