I had gotten charged with Possession with intent to sell and deliver and schedule 3 controlled substance. This was the first time I was ever put in handcuffs; it was the first time I was ever charged with anything beyond a traffic ticket. I had been at a drug dealers house at the wrong time and the police raided the house while I was inside. My parents car (the car I drive) was parked in his neighbor's drive way. Inside of the car I had 7 Suboxone Tablets. I contacted Seth Blum and explained the details of my case. He was quick to contact me. The biggest issue that I have with Seth Blum was that I felt he didn't really take a lot of time to review my case and see if I could be found not guilty. I was charged with intending on selling Suboxone when I had absolutely no intent of selling them. Instead of looking into whether or not the police had the authority to search my car that wasn't on the property listed in the warrent, or even trying to argue that I obviously needed that medication (for the record, by the time I went in front of a judge I had a prescription to Suboxone) and that 7 tablets wasn't more than what one person would need (I am currently prescribed 3 a day). The difference of possession versus possession with intent to sell is the difference between a felony and a misdemeanor. I personally felt he was too busy to really do the work I needed him to do. I was not guilty of possession with intent to sell. Also, he didn't really explain how the whole structured sentencing worked. I thought I was facing 36 months (the max time for a Class I felony, meaning someone who has a super extensive record) when there was no way I could get more than 8 months. Instead he got me into some run of the mill plea agreement with the State where I had to do things I wasn't going to be able to do and plead guilty to the felony charge. If I had completed the program the charge would have been dropped, but I was having serious problems with substance abuse and was really out of control. I was told that the probation officer and this counselling I had to do was there to help me change my life around, when in reality their job was to lock me up as soon as I slipped. I ended up doing 90 days at the Dart-Cherry program and over 6 weeks in a really poorly run state rehab where the patients mostly sat around a played cards while waiting to hear someone talk about how their lives were ruined by drugs or alcohol. I had spent about 6 weeks in jail, and ended up spending about 3 months in prison, on a 4-5 month suspended sentence. That's a totally of 9 months I spent away from home, partially due to another lawyer who handled my probation violation not knowing that all he had to do was bring up Lutz vs. NC court of appeals to insure that my Dart-Cherry time was counted.
While I enjoyed Mr. Blum on a personally level, under his counsel I regret every decision I made. And though I take responsibility for my mistakes with not being able to complete or comply with the rules of my probation, I feel things would have gone differently and that I would have made different decisions if he had spent more time explaining to me the law, what I was facing and what my options were. Mr. Blum is the type of lawyer who sends a letter to anyone who gets charged with anything and I think because he has so many clients, he doesn't have as much time to really do all of the hard work that i would really like when my future and freedom is on the line.

I would highly recommend the law firm of Seth Blum. I was highly recommended myself. My son was charged with a felony breaking and entering, and I was so worried with what the consequence could have been. I met with Mr. Blum and he completely made me feel assured that he would do his best for my son's case, and he did just that. The case was DISMISSED on the first hearing date. Thank you Mr Blum and your firm for representing my son with the best outcome

Seth Blum is an excellent attorney and one of the most patient and caring people I have ever met. His expertise of the law and the devotion that he shows to his clients is well known. I have referred him to several people and they all report the same postitive experience that I had using his services on sensetive legal matters.

Seth Blum and his firm have handled 2 seperate issues for me and were very professional and dilligent in both cases. He is extremely knowledgeable but not pretentious or bias. I was very happy with the outcome and would and will use his services again. I also give his firm's name and information out whenever I hear anyone needing services.
