Ms. McDowell, licensed by the Virginia State Bar and North Carolina State Bar, has made significant contributions to the eder law community in both Virginia and North Carolina. Certified as an Elder Law Attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation and Board Certified as a specialist in Elder Law by the North Carolina State Bar, Ms. McDowell practices primarily in the areas of Elder Law, Veterans Benefts planning Long-term Care Planning, Estate and Trust Administration, Estate Planning, Asset Protection Planning, and Tax Law.
Ms. McDowell is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association and currently serves as the secretary for the North Carolina Bar Association Elder Law Section Council. Ms. McDowell is also on the North Carolina State Bar's Specialization Committee to board certify other elder law attorneys in the state. In addition, she is an active member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) serving as Co-Chair of the 2016 Annual Conference in Denver and she has just been selected to be a member of the NAELA Board of Directors.
In addition to practicing law, Ms. McDowell acts as the Elder Law Community Liasion for InterActive Legal, assisting in developing software for elder law attorneys around the country. She has also been named as a Super Lawyer rising star for 2014 and 2015.
