Norman Charles Post III “Chas” was born and raised in Sanford, NC and attended Lee County Senior High School from 1998-2002. After graduation Chas moved down east to attend the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in Wilmington, NC where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and obtained his B.A. in Political Science. Chas received his Juris Doctor from the Charlotte School of Law in 2009 after serving as a charter member of the inaugural law school class. During law school, Chas served on the Student Bar Association, both as a Senator and as the Director of Networking. He was also the founder of the Charlotte School of Law Chapter of the American Constitution Society for Law and Policy. In his third year, Chas was named the captain of the inaugural Charlotte School of Law Trial Advocacy Team and received the Trial Advocacy Honors Distinction for his participation in the 2009 National Trial Competition in Atlanta, Georgia.
Chas obtained his license to practice law in the State of North Carolina in 2010, and began his legal career with Powers McCartan, PLLC in Charlotte, NC. During his tenure with Powers McCartan, PLLC, Chas concentrated his practice on DWI defense, traffic violations, and criminal misdemeanors. Over a period of 14 months, Chas tried/argued approximately 100 (+) bench trials/motions and tried one jury trial to verdict. The overwhelming majority of these trials and motions were related to the charge of Driving While Impaired. This is largely attributed to the fact that Senior Partner, Bill Powers, is regarded in the state of North Carolina as one of the premier defense attorneys for Driving While Impaired cases. Under Mr. Powers’ direct supervision, Chas gained significant and invaluable experience assisting in the defense of accused persons across a wide spectrum of North Carolina DWI cases, as well as traffic cases and criminal misdemeanors. Chas has now returned to his home town of Sanford, NC and is an associate attorney with Doster, Post, Silverman & Foushee, P.A. Chas will continue to focus his attention on DWI, traffic and criminal misdemeanors, but can also provide zealous representation in criminal felony matters and in general civil litigation issues.
Chas prides himself on bringing a comprehensive knowledge of the law to the representation of his clients. In October of 2011, Chas received a Certificate of Training from Drugs & Alcohol Risk Management, Inc. for his participation in the 24-hour National Highway Traffic Safety Administration DWI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Program. This Certificate of Training requires the same training law enforcement officers undergo to learn to spot and arrest motorists suspected of driving while impaired.
Chas draws upon his legal experience in Charlotte, as well as hard work and preparation, in his effort to deliver sound legal advice to individuals targeted by the government for prosecution. Chas truly appreciates his ability to fight on behalf of individuals against the awesome power of government to ensure that each individual’s rights are protected; and he welcomes helping those who may not be able to help themselves.
Chas is married with one dog. In his free time Chas enjoys going to the beach, boating, fishing, playing golf, politics, cheering on the Carolina Panthers and the New York Yankees and spending quality time with family and friends.
