Over the past 98 years, the Oast family has built a unique legal practice of quality and distinction. All of the employees currently at Oast & Taylor were formerly employed at Oast & Hook, and before that, the Oasts share a longstanding history of practicing law.
The family began practicing law in 1915 in Portsmouth, Virginia. J. Alden, Edward L. and William H. Oast founded the Oast, Oast & Oast law firm, and it has been continually adapting and evolving ever since.
Following in his father’s footsteps, William H. Oast Jr. began practicing law in 1950. Twenty-six years later, the state legislature elected him as a judge of the Circuit Court of Portsmouth.
It only seemed natural for William (Bill) H. Oast III to continue the family tradition. In 1974, he started at the law firm Babb & Oast, which later became Oast & Hook.
In 2012, Bill left Oast & Hook to form Oast & Taylor. Six out of seven attorneys and the entire professional staff joined him. Today, they strive for ongoing exceptional service and legal counsel, assisting residents throughout southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina.
