I joined Jackson & Campbell in 2010 as an Associate in the Firm's Real Property & Asset Management, Bankruptcy & Creditors' Rights, and General Litigation Practice Groups. Before J&C, I was a litigator in McLean, Virginia, representing businesses before state and federal courts in matters involving contracts, trade secrets, employment law, landlord-tenant law, and bankruptcy. I also have experience in litigating insurance coverage and tort matters.
I received my J.D., cum laude, from George Mason University School of Law, where I was an associate editor of the Civil Rights Law Journal and a member of the Moot Court Board. I also served as the school's Honor Committee Chairman for two years. I received a B.S. in Telecommunications from Ohio University.
I am admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Virginia, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Columbia.

James Markels is a skilled trial and appellate advocate with a broad knowledge base giving him flexibility in a litigation setting. I am proud to say he is one of a few people I can rely on for civil procedural advice in more unique situations. I would strongly recommend Mr. Markels to anyone seeking able litigation counsel.
