Cathleen Vitale

About Me

After twenty four years of mid-size law firm practice, Cathy Vitale made the decision to open her own practice and provide legal and mediation services to the greater Anne Arundel County, Baltimore region, opening the doors to the Law Offices of Cathleen M. Vitale, in January of 2013.  She has been a practicing attorney for more than two decades,  personally handling  thousands of legal matters on behalf of her clients in and out of the courtroom.  Her success as both as a trial lawyer and as a mediator earned her recognition by her peers as one of Anne Arundel County’s Leading lawyers in What’s Up Magazine.

Ms. Vitale earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland, College Park, in 1985 and attended the University of Baltimore School or Law, receiving her Juris Doctorate in 1989.  Upon graduation, Ms. Vitale was granted a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Raymond G. Thieme, Jr., Maryland’s 5th Circuit Administrative Judge and Circuit Court Judge for Anne Arundel County.  She began private practice in Anne Arundel County in 1990 where she continues to practice, more than twenty years later.

In addition to an active litigation practice, Ms. Vitale provides mediation services in a variety of areas.  She first received her certification and mediation training through the National Center for Conflict Resolution in 1997.  She performs both private and Court ordered mediation for clients seeking alternatives to the contested litigation process.

Ms. Vitale currently serves as a Delegate in the Maryland General Assembly, representing Anne Arundel County, Maryland’s 33rd District, assigned to the Environmental Matters Committee.  She sits on the Land Use and Ethics Subcommittees, the Anne Arundel County subcommittee on Education and the Work Force on Legislative Ethics.  Previously to her position in the General Assembly, Ms. Vitale was a member of the Anne Arundel County Council, from 2000 through 2010, serving several years as its Chairman holding several state positions including Board Member, Secretary and Vice President of the Maryland Association of Counties and Commissioner appointed to the Maryland Chesapeake Bay Critical Area Commission
