I put a high priority on communicating with the client. Not only do I return phone calls and emails promptly, but also I initiate contact to keep them updated and in the loop. The attorney-client relationship is a team, and it works best where each understands their role and communication lines are open.
My rates are quite reasonable because I have a home office and resulting low overhead. I also am very efficient in my work, which results in a smaller bill for the client. Law firms typically bill twice as many hours as I do for the same quality work, and their hourly rates are higher to boot.
