I used Mr. Burton for my divorce proceeding and to draw up a separation agreement. Mr. Burton's mannerism was definitely professional be he should really consider the professional manner of his staff as a reflection on him. Simple requests were not understood by his staff and the messages from his staff were not professionally relayed. As an attorney, Mr. Burton was acceptable. My main issue was the lack of a response. It would take literally weeks before you would get a response to emails or phone calls. Working in the legal field, I can understand how attorneys can be overwhelmed but you can rest assure them invoices were timely. My case was simple as both sides were in agreement before Mr. Burton was hired. One would think this made the case cut and dry. It dragged on for an extended period because of lack of response. I would not say Mr. Burton is a bad attorney but he should definitely consider his response time. A friend asked for a referral and due to the unresponsiveness from the Burton firm, I was very hesitant to pass along his information. It's unfortunate, but clients don't like to chase their lawyers down when they are spending hundreds of dollars an hour. But keep in mind, any response you get will cost you -- forget about your time (you don't get paid for the time spend chasing him down). Would I like to recommend Mr. Burton YES but unfortunately I can't under these circumstances. Hopefully Mr. Burton will work on that part of his business and I wish him much success in the future.
I was fighting a uphill battle for custody of my daughter. I have been getting the run around from multiple lawyers in the the PG County area and none of them gave me any confidence on winning my case. I met Mr. Burton and was reassured that I had a strong chance to win custody of my daughter and for me to continue doing right as a father and to not let anyone try to get me to act out of character. He was very knowledgeable on family law, patient, courteous, attentive and communicable. Following his advice and producing all the documentation he requested I was successfully awarded custody and now have a lawyer that will take care of any of myself or family legal needs.
I hired Burton after my girlfriend referred him to me, because he represented her sister in a divorce case. Burton explained things to me and he walked me through the process. The people that work at the courthouse know him and so do the other attorneys that do family law in PG and Charles County. Long story made short, I have twice the amount of visitation with my son and my ex-wife doesn't play anymore games with me and my relationship with our son. Burton saved my relationship with my son.
You will do a better job representing yourself. I paid thousands (yes you read that correctly) of dollars and still did not get the outcome I anticipated. Not only is Mr. Burton unresponsive but his staff is unprofessional and loses "payment receipts" (thank goodness I kept mine). The reviewer from 2012 was spot on, I wish I had listened.

Aubrey is my go-to-guy in the Maryland court system. I had a nasty custody fight and after 3 years of perseverance it all paid off. Aubrey is knowledgeable and straight forward. You walk into the Upper Marlboro Courthouse and you feel like you are with a rock star. I have another custody case coming up with the ex-wife and once again I will be retaining him for my services. She is shaking in her boots because she has seen him work.

Great Job. He handled the appeal of my case after my other attorney messed up. He is very responsive and a good lawyer. I have sent other people to him and they are very satisfied as well. Also, the judges and court staff know him.

I retained Attorney Burton for a custody case. My child's mother took the child and refused to let me visit because I no longer wanted to have a relationship with her. Other attorney's told me to give up, because the court wouldn't give me shared 50/50 custody. Attorney Burton fought for me and I ended up with shared custody: I get my son for 6 weeks during the summer, and 3 weekends from Thr to Monday each month, and on Thur overnight during the week that I do not get him for the weekend. I also like the fact that he serves his country as a reservist, being former military myself.

Paid for consultation as he requested I believe close to 300 dollars the man would not return my calls after that. Our last conversation was that he would get a process server to serve the other party. Never heard from him again despite numerous calls to his a/s . I chose him based on the reviews on this site. I later found some other sites that have reviewed him and these clients have had the same problem. BUYER BEWARE

Attorney Burton saved the day. My children's father obtained a temporary protective order against me on false pretenses, and had me served right before Easter. I was put out of the house and he had custody of the kids. No other attorney's would return my call, except Mr. Burton. Mr. Burton met with me on a Saturday and immediately calmed my nerves. He not only explained the process but he also prepared me for trial by going over testimony, making sure that I had necessary evidence, and necessary witnesses.
Needless to say, Attorney Burton won the case (on a Motion for Judgment) and I didn't even need to testify! The look on my children's father's face and my children's father's attorney's face was priceless!
He is great!

This lawyer is the real deal. I went to another attorney for my divorce first but that didn't last long because she really didn't seem like she knew what she was doing. A friend recommended Aubrey Burton to me.
Mr. Burton put me at ease right away during this difficult time in my life. He explained the process to me and answered all of my questions. He is really smart. I really had a lot of questions because I didn't want to make a mistake like I did with the first lawyer.
One thing I can tell you about Mr. Burton is that he really fought for me. He gave me a realistic evaluation of my situation. He didn't just tell me things that he knew I wanted to hear. He knows these courts in Maryland and I think that made a difference. He treated me like a partner in my case and didn't just blow me off. That really meant a lot to me.
I would recommend this lawyer. I hope I don't need to use him for a divorce again but I would definitely seek his advice when I start my business.
