Robert Charles Bonsib

About me

As a criminal defense attorney, I offer legal representation to individuals and organizations under criminal investigation or facing criminal charges in the federal courts in Maryland and the District of Columbia and in the criminal trial and appellate courts in Maryland. I have been in private practice and have been a partner at MarcusBonsib, LLC since 1990. Prior to entering private practice I served for 15 years as both a federal prosecutor in the United States Attorneys Office for the District of Maryland and as an Assistant States Attorney and then as the Deputy States Attorney for Prince George's County, Maryland. I am active in federal and local bar activities and serve on a number of court committee, including the Maryland Pattern Jury Instruction Committee. I have been appointed by the United States District Court on numerous occasions to serve on its United States Magistrate Selection Committee. I am a member the Judicial Conference for the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. For 20 years I have served on the Prince George's County Trial Court Nominating Commission, a Commission that must review and approve all candidates for State Circuit and District Court judicial positions prior to the candidates being considered for appointment by the Governor. In 2011 I was awarded the Robert Heeney Award by the Maryland State Bar Association recognizing a career in criminal law. I have been recognized by the Washingtonian Magazine in its last 5 "Top Lawyers" edition and by Super Lawyers. I am a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and I am listed in "Best Lawyers in America" in the practice areas of white-collar and non-white collar criminal defense.
