About Me

Background:

My practice is focused primarily on employment law and federal litigation.

I have significant experience handling claims for clients that have been discriminated against in the workplace. Most claims are brought under a variety of federal anti-discrimination and "whistleblower" statutes. These laws include, but are not limited to, the Americans with Disabilities Act ("ADA"), the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act ("ADEA"), Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Equal Pay Act ("EPA"), the Family Medical and Leave Act ("FMLA"), the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 ("SOX") and the Dodd–Frank Act.

A serious part of my practice is also devoted to protecting the state law rights of employees. I have represented individuals that have made claims under the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act ("PHRA"), the Pennsylvania Wage Payment and Collection Law ("WPCL") and the Pennsylvania Whistleblower Law. I also counsel clients as to their rights in New Jersey under laws such as the Law Against Discrimination ("NJLAD") and the Conscientious Employee Protection Act ("CEPA").

Some other areas of my practice include federal and state appellate litigation, employment contract disputes, False Claims Act ("FCA") litigation and civil rights claims against municipalities.

Selected Representative Matters:

  • F.C. vs. Major PA Auto Dealership; second chair in a federal jury trial wherein the jury awarded client $750,000.00 for discrimination on the basis of the client's national origin, race and gender in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.

  • M.H. v. Major Pennsylvania Contractor; second chair in a federal jury trial wherein the client won a substantial verdict after the jury determined the company violated the client's rights under the Family and Medical Leave Act ("FMLA") when she was fired after requesting time off for major surgery.

  • KE v. Major U.S. Bank in PA; our client filed a Title VII national origin discrimination suit against a major U.S. bank in federal court. We were able to successfully resolve the case early with minimal litigation and a favorable result for the client.

  • M.M. vs. Auto Repair Shop Chain: our client filed a Title VII sexual harassment suit in federal court against her former employer. We were able to resolve the case early with a favorable result for the client.

  • C.E. vs. Major Restaurant Chain; our client brought a Title VII gender discrimination suit in federal court against a major U.S. restaurant chain with a location in Pennsylvania. The case ultimately resolved with a favorable outcome for the client.

  • J.C. v. Large PA School District: our client sued a major Pennsylvania school district alleging ADEA and PHRA age discrimination in federal court. After considerable motions practice, the case ultimately resolved favorably for the client.

  • E.C. vs. Publically Traded Oil Company; our client brought a suit alleging Title VII sexual harassment stemming from her work on a Pennsylvania job site owned by a major U.S. oil company. Ultimately, this case resolved favorably for the client after defeating the employer's motion for summary judgment.
