When my son was (then) 4 years old, he was trying to understand what I do when I leave the house every day in my coat and tie, briefcase in hand. The word "lawyer" was of course meaningless to him. I considered how to put what is a complicated daily professional life into its simplest terms. How do you boil down something which is seemingly vast and complicated to its elemental essence and still convey the full import of all that goes into "being a lawyer"?
It turned out to be pretty easy. I simply told my son that I help people. Sometimes they've gotten hurt because someone else made a bad choice. Sometimes their business is in trouble or they're being accused of something they didn't do. Whatever the problem, people come to me because they need help solving it.
I think he understood because very often after we have read a few books before bed and we are just talking, he will ask who I helped today. Nothing gives me greater pride than to tell him.

It is a unique situation when a lawyer needs to hire their own lawyer. Those are the circimstances that brought me to Andy Baratta. After many years of having my own successful practice with another attorney, I hired Andy to handle the dissolution of my law practice. This was a very difficult time for me and Andy wasn't only a great lawyer, he was a kind man. His knowledge of the law and dedication to my case gave me comfort and confidence during a very trying time. Although I live several hours from his practice, I was so impressed with his work ethic, I have asked him to work with me on other cases. Trust me, you want him at your table if you're in court! I would whole heartedly recommend Andy Baratta to anyone.
