About Me

Mr. Petrich, a Mt. Lebanon, PA resident, was the first attorney certified as an Elder Law attorney in Western Pennsylvania. This certification was granted by the National Elder Law Foundation to him in 1999. He is presently Of Counsel to Gray Elder Law, a Pittsburgh, PA elder law firm (www.grayelderlaw.com).

Mr. Petrich has a B.S. degree in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh, which he obtained while working full time at Pitt’s Health Law Center and a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public Health. He then received his Law Degree from Duquesne University while employed as Assistant Executive Director at West Penn Hospital, also serving as in-house counsel after obtaining his law degree. Mr. Petrich was then President and CEO of a 600 bed mid-western hospital, including a nursing home and psychiatric facility, before his return home to Pittsburgh.

He has been active in the Pittsburgh area community, including the Allegheny County Bar Association where he is a past Chair of the Elder Law Committee and a Council member of the Probate and Trust Section, Mt. Lebanon Area Chamber of Commerce (past President), Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Association of Individual Investors (past President), and is a former Board Member of the Mt. Lebanon Hospital Authority and Mt. Lebanon Village.

He is a member of the  Allegheny County Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council and is a Board Member of the Baptist Homes Society which operates a nursing facility and Continuing Care Retirement Community in Pittsburgh's South Hills.

He has also been named, for each year since 2006, a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in elder law and as one of The Best Lawyers in America in elder law.

Mr. Petrich is also a Certified Financial Planner and a member of the Estate Planning Council of Pittsburgh, the Senior Action Coalition, the Pennsylvania Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Pittsburgh Paddlefish, a Dragon Boat team.

He also co-authors a monthly "Elder Law Column" in the Sunday edition of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
