Mr. Smith has extensive experience in litigation, in both state and federal courts. In addition, half of his professional time is devoted to advising small and medium sized companies and forming start-ups.
Mr. Smith is active in the Monroe County Bar Association. In 2001 he was appointed to the Board of Directors for the Monroe County Bar Center for Education and in that same year he was honored to receive the President’s Award for Distinguished Service to the Monroe County Bar Association. He served as a Trustee of the Monroe County Bar Association from 2001 to 2003 and has Chaired the Fee Arbitration and the Public Education Committees. He also served on numerous committees and is presently a member of the Ethics Committee.
He is recognized with the highest ranking from the leading national rating organization, Martindale-Hubbell, for legal ability, faithful adherence to professional standards of conduct and ethics, professional reliability and diligence.
Mr. Smith has been married for forty-four years to his high school sweetheart. They have four children. Two live in Portland, Oregon, one lives in Boston and one lives in Brighton. In 1992, Mr. Smith retired from the Army Reserves as a Major.
