Distinguished in both private practice and public service, Casey is a Senior Counsel at Tully Rinckey PLLC. He primarily represents Central New York spouses, parents and other parties with family and matrimonial law matters, such as divorce, separation, child custody, child support, spousal maintenance, orders of protection, and equitable distribution.
Casey – who is also an Onondaga County legislator – came to Tully Rinckey PLLC with 27 years of experience practicing law. For most of that time, he successfully operated as either a solo practitioner or a name partner at Syracuse-area law firms. He has represented clients in a wide range of matters, including family and matrimonial law, estate planning, real estate law, and general litigation, among others. Major banks, mortgage companies and funds have also enjoyed Casey’s representation. His legal career began at a law firm in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where he practiced general corporate and commercial law.
Since 2006, Casey has sat on the Onondaga County Legislature, and he represents the county’s 14th District (i.e., Town of Clay). He has emerged as a leader in variety of areas crucial to county residents and businesses. He has served as the chairman and vice-chairman of the county Legislature’s Ways and Means Committee, the chairman of the Planning and Economic Development Committee, and the vice-chairman of the Environmental Protection Committee and Health Committee. He is also a member of the Facilities Committee.
Casey’s community involvement, by far, is not limited to his work with the county Legislature. He has sat on several boards, including the Cornell Cooperative Extension Board of Directors, the Technology Venture Capital Committee, Empire Zone Administrative Board, the Syracuse Metropolitan Transportation Counsel, the Onondaga County Aging Services Advisory Board, the North Area YMCA Board of Managers, and the Onondaga County Bar Association Board of Directors.
Casey’s extensive experience representing Central New Yorkers getting divorced or dealing with child custody and support issues has afforded him membership in the Family Law Section of Onondaga County Bar Association. He is also a member of the county bar association’s Elder Law Section.
