Alan S. Hock is a Partner of the firm and Chair of its promotion marketing, advertising, trademark, and Internet/new media practice areas.
Over the past twenty five years Alan has represented some of the country’s largest direct response advertisers marketing directly to consumers through the vehicles of catalogs, direct mail, space advertising, infomercials, television spot advertising and the Internet. In connection with such representation, Alan is recognized as one of the leading promotion marketing attorneys in the country, regularly representing clients in connection with compliance with the myriad of Federal and State laws and regulations governing this practice area. When necessary, Alan represents clients in connection with investigations by the various governmental agencies having jurisdiction over such marketing practices and in litigation with such agencies including the Federal Trade Commission, State Attorney General, U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission, U.S. Postal Service, Customs Office and the Food and Drug Administration.
Alan also represents some of the nation’s leading retailers both in the traditional retail setting and in connection with their Internet presence. He counsels such clients in all aspects of retail and online marketing matters including privacy, licensing, contests and sweepstakes, email promotions and a host of other emerging issues facing retail and online marketers. New York Lawyer magazine has called Alan “a major player in e-commerce.”
Alan also handles complex litigation in both State and Federal Court focusing on intellectual property matters including trademarks, copyrights and unfair competition. Alan and his litigation matters have attracted significant interest from the national media. He has appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America, CBS Evening News with Dan Rather, HBO Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel, ABC’s 20/20 and CNBC.
