    You can sue them to get the money back. You may or may not win. It will depend on the strength of your evidence.

    A receipt is not required in this case, however if he/she refuses to provide you with one, you may want to look a bit deeper into why they are not doing so.

    Chances are that the judge will not allow a substitution of attorney this late in the case, however it is worth calling the court and your attorney to discuss your concerns.
