t’s important to know the person you’re hiring as an attorney, which is why I feel proud to share my current and past experience, skills and qualifications with you.
My name is Eric Sarver. I’m an attorney licensed to practice law in the State of New York, and am admitted in the Federal Courts, in both the Eastern and Southern Districts.
A 1995 graduate of Binghamton University undergraduate school and a 1998 Hofstra University Law School, I began practicing in the field of civil rights, labor and employment law. Prior to founding The Law Offices of Eric M. Sarver, I was employed from 1998 through 2001, as an associate attorney at Menagh, Trainor & Falcone, P.C., a competitive Park Avenue law firm, before joining Rosen, Leff, P.C. as an associate attorney, from January, 2000 to March, 2001. I further worked in various capacities – including part-time associate, of-counsel and per diem attorney -- for the Law Offices of Frederick K. Brewington, Esq., between 1998 and 1999, and from 2001 through 2009.
During my sixteen plus years of practicing law, I have predominantly concentrated on federal civil rights litigation and employment law. I am proud of my firm’s accomplishments: having procured over $1,000,000 in verdicts and settlements on very complex and sophisticated federal and state court cases (including matters involving employment discrimination, unfair labor practices, and constitutional torts), under Title VII, the ADEA (Age Discrimination in Employment Act), the ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act), the NLRA (National Labor Relations Act), the FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act), and the New York State and New York City Human Rights Laws. Moreover, I have further spent fourteen of the past sixteen plus years of practice, handling cases of commercial litigation, along with contract disputes, drafting and reviewing contracts, and writing and opposing appeals in employment law.
After years of experience in litigating these types of matters, I would often reflect upon how many of employment and labor-related lawsuits could have been prevented, if only there were early intervention with the employer, to try to ensure businesses and non-profits maintained compliance with the labor and employment laws, had sound H.R. policies in place, and had early intervention and attempted resolution of employee disputes. As an attorney with knowledge of and experience in labor and employment law, well-versed and experienced in mediation, conflict resolution, and finding solutions that keep employee complaints of harassment or discrimination from escalating into expensive, timely and damaging federal lawsuits, I took my practice in that direction.
My years spent litigating against employers and businesses have given me a keen insight, and a unique perspective, which I now use to protect your company, business or non-profit organization, from potential violations of federal and state employment laws, while further helping your business with contracts, and counseling your organization, to help identify, investigate and de-escalate potential employee lawsuits, stemming from early-stage complaints of discrimination or wrongful conduct.
