Posted by Unrepresented, a Chapter 7 client,
Scott Lanin handled my personal bankruptcy. He took my money and then did everything he could in order to get out of my case. He claimed to the Judge that we could not communicate - when, in fact, Scott refused to communicate - in an effort to be released as my attorney. The Judge refused his request. Despite that, Scott refused to work on my case or give me legal advice despite being my lawyer of record and having been well-paid. He comes off as knowledgeable enough; just seems to have no interest in actually doing right by his client.

Scott did a poor job on our matter. He did not follow up with us nor with the other parties to the matter. I had to push him along at every juncture. He did not move the matter forward. It only moved forward because of our constant urging and prompting him. It is not clear whether he takes on too much work and drops the ball or exactly what, but he did not pursue our matter aggressively.
We were deeply disappointed and do not recommend this attorney.
He appears to be a trustworthy person and nice enough. Just not competent with follow up or urgency at all.
