  • Could I get arrested for reporting child porn?

I am reporting child porn. I have to look at the website to see if it is against the law or not. I do not like looking at the websites but would rather that then these poor children being all over the web for people to abuse. Could I get arrested ...

    Ryan’s Answer

Not for simply reporting it, unless there is a mix up. The question is how do you know about it? Technically even possessing it in order to destroy it or take it from the real wrong doer is a crime unless you turn it over to authorities. There is a fair amount of case LE and controversy surrounding the topic of "bootleg evidence" that you should be aware of. I think in order to properly answer your question I would need more information.

  • Can I still press charges in criminal court and sue civially ? Do the threats mean anything now 2 years later?

I had a 2 false police reports made against me from my crazy babymom and her mom. Resulted in my arrest twice. The 2nd arrest they held me in jail for 4 days without seeing a judge. Kept telling my family memebers that I was denying to come see a ...

    Ryan’s Answer

Yes. But you will want to tell your story to the government before you file civilly, assuming you have time under the statute of limitations. You really have to think about what your goals are and why you are bringing an action. If it is just about money then a civil suit is the way to go. If you are looking for justice then you may want to explore the possibility of bringing criminal charges. But be careful. You should probably have an attorney with you before you speak to the government

    Ryan’s Answer

On paper you could do a year in jail but you won't do a day if your lawyer knows what he/she is doing. Since this is your first offense you should push for an ACD which means your case will ultimately be dismissed. I would hire a private lawyer but legal aid gets cases dismissed too sometimes.

  • Brokerage account terminated my account for "no reason" they stated its done at their discretion and not to be taken personally.

Foreign currency trading account was closed for no reason. I contacted them and was told that they have the right to close accounts at their discretion and that I should not take it personally. I read over the client agreement and did not violate ...

    Ryan’s Answer

You may want to conduct an internal audit of your trading history and financial dealings in order to try to determine why this occurred. We are seeing more and more incidences like the one you describe. Sometimes an account closing is an early warning sign that a government investigation is underway. Other times it isn't. For example, banks receiving multiple cash deposits in the same day from a business they don't understand may close the account either because the government is investigating the business for structuring and failure to file CTR's or simply because, as an internal policy, the bank is not comfortable that their client won't be investigated for this in the future. Without knowing more about your account and trading history it is difficult to answer. However, it may be worth examining on your end since the threat of government investigation is of greater import than the closing of your trading account. FOREX traders who open multiple margin accounts from a number of institutions in a short time span, for example, may also have their accounts closed for fear of check kiting-like schemes.

  • Why cant I get my bail money back on an Acod charge?

Baied out my son. And he went back to court and was released on Acod..for the next six months.. but said I had to wait untill that six months was up to get my bail money back.. a day before I was to get my bail money back my son was aressted again...

    Ryan’s Answer

You should ask your son's lawyer to request a bail exoneration hearing. You can also have that lawyer, or your own, file a motion explaining why the bail should be released to you despite what happened. Your effort to secure your son's attendance in court and to otherwise act as a responsible surety for your son, together with the attendant hardship on you are relevant factors for a judge to consider in addition to arguments that can be made regarding your son's actions. You should be proactive in trying to get your bail money returned.
