New York (Bronx County) v. Jane Doe

Case Conclusion Date: 04.11.2012

Practice Area: Criminal Defense

Outcome: A favorable plea bargain in a murder case.

Description: The client was arrested and charged with acting in concert with another person to commit a murder in New York State. The client and the other person were allegedly captured on a building's video surveillance system planning and carrying out the shooting that resulted in the victim's death. The top charge carried a minimum sentence of 15-life. After filing lengthy motions and conducting a pre-trial hearing where I exposed problems with the investigation, with law enforcement's interpretation of the video evidence, and with constitutional issues relating to the client's arrest, the prosecutor dramatically reduced the plea bargain offer to a non-violent felony charge and an indeterminate sentence of 1 & 2/3rds to 5 years.
