When I hear colleagues answer the questions "What do you do" with "I'm a lawyer" I always think "Being a lawyer is your profession, it is not what you do for your clients".
I am a Business Lawyer and a Personal Lawyer.
As a Business Lawyer I help business owners build and maintain the infrastructure of their business - from how to form a business, to how to finance it, to attracting and outgrowing employees, to maximize contract terms in leases, customer agreements and joint ventures, to developing and implementing an exit strategy. All of this is done keeping an eye on the tax cost to reduce the governments share of the business to its fair minimum.
As a Personal Lawyer I help people protect their assets. This can be done in the guise of estate planning "What happens to my family and stuff if I die?" or the guise of elder law planning "What happens to me if a I live a long time and get sick?". It can also be helping people enter into transactions like buying a house, rental property or business, and unwinding those same transactions.
Endorsements from fellow lawyers are an important consideration for many when selecting the right attorney. Be the first to endorse your colleague!
