About Me

Mr. Malia’s practice involves representing insurance carriers in insurance and healthcare fraud litigation, as well as individuals, businesses and insurance companies in any and all litigation and trial matters, including, but not limited to personal injury cases, automobile accidents, workers’ compensation matters, breach of contract suits, discrimination actions, PIP arbitrations and actions by families of students who have been bullied. 


 


He has extensive jury trial, bench trial and arbitration experience, having tried over 50 trials.  Mr. Malia has had numerous jury verdicts published in Verdict Search New Jersey, Pennsylvania Jury Verdict Review and Analysis, and Verdict Search Pennsylvania. 


 


Mr. Malia has the following certifications: Certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney; Board Certified Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and Board Certified Civil Pretrial Practice Advocate by the National Board of Civil Pretrial Practice Advocacy (both ABA Accredited Divisions of the National Board of Legal Specialty Certification).  Mr. Malia was recognized in New Jersey Super Lawyers as a Rising Star for 2012-14.  He is AV Preeminent Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell.  Mr. Malia has published the following articles: “Uncovering Fraud in the Referral Relationship”, Volume 29, Issue 3 (2014); “The Appellate Division Slays the Bad Faith Dragon in UM Lawsuit”, Volume 28, Issue 2 (2013); "None the Wiser: The Law Division's Split Decisions on Whether Outstanding Medical Bills are Admissible in Minimum PIP Cases" in the New Jersey Defense, Volume 27, Issue 3 (2012); "The Appellate Division Stifles Fraud Discovery in Suspicious PIP Disputes" in the New Jersey Defense, Volume 26, Issue 2 (2010); "Still No Bootstrapping Allowed: The Supreme Court in Agha Reinforces the Brun Holding" in the New Jersey Defense, Volume 25, Issue 3 (2009); and "Pardo No Longer a Plaintiff's Sword: Jury to Decide Whether a Herniation is a Permanent Injury" in the New Jersey Defense, Volume 25, Issue 1 (2009).  He is the Chair of the ADR committee for the New Jersey Defense Association; and is also a court-appointed arbitrator in Ocean County.
