David S. Lafferty concentrates in the areas of commercial litigation and real estate transactions and development. Prior to establishing his own practice, he was associated with a Hackensack insurance defense and coverage firm where he gained extensive courtroom experience, including jury trials.
Mr. Lafferty was admitted to practice before the State and Federal Courts in New Jersey in 1991. He graduated from Villanova University in 1988 with a B.S. in Finance and earned his J.D. from Pace Law School in 1991, where he was a member of the Pace Environmental Law Review. Following law school, Mr. Lafferty was a law clerk to the Hon. James T. Murphy, J.S.C. of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Bergen County.
David S. Lafferty is currently the Municipal Court Judge for the Borough of Ridgefield, N.J. and previously served as Judge for the Borough of Paramus and the Borough of Fair Lawn. Previously he served as Municipal Prosecutor for the Boroughs of New Milford, Saddle Brook, North Arlington and Paramus, and the attorney for the Ridgefield Zoning Board of Adjustment.
In 2005, he was appointed by the New Jersey Supreme Court to the District IIA (Bergen County North) Ethics Committee, and served as Chair during the 2008-2009 term.
Mr. Lafferty has served as court-appointed attorney in guardianship proceedings on numerous occasions and has been appointed as Condemnation Commissioner as part of eminent domain proceedings.
As a life-long resident of Bergen County, David S. Lafferty is active in many civic and community organizations and causes.
