About Me

I'm a partner in the Westport, Connecticut and Bronxville, New York law firm of Begos Horgan & Brown LLP. Since 2008, I have spent much of my time defending consumers and businesses in foreclosure cases in Connecticut and New York. I have had two foreclosure actions dismissed and prevented a lender from riding the municipality's coattails in a tax foreclosure. These decisions were featured in both the legal and consumer press including the Connecticut Law Tribune, the Fairfield County Business Journal and the Commercial Record.  I am representing a client in an appeal to the Connecticut Supreme Court involving standing to foreclose and the viability of MERS mortgages. We had appealed to the Connecticut Appellate Court but prior to oral argument, the Supreme Court transferred the case to itself.  I am optimistic that this is a precursor to dramatic change in Connecticut foreclosure law.  The Supreme Court argument has yet to be scheduled and can be no sooner than September 2011.

I have been a litigator for more than 18 years.  Since joining the firm in 2002, I have spent the bulk of my time defending foreclosures; prosecuting appeals; representing constituent companies of Unum Group in litigations regarding benefits under disability insurance policies; arbitrating investor disputes with stock brokers; and representing businesses and individuals in a variety of other financial, property and contract disputes.
