About Me

I am originally from Concord, New Hampshire and graduated from Concord High School.  I attended American University in Washington, DC where I earned a degree in Political Science. I earned my Juris Doctor from Northeastern University in Boston.  After law school, I joined the law firm of Testa, Hurwitz and Thibeault in Boston and worked in its litigation practice group.  However, I very much wished to pursue my legal career in New Hampshire and pursued and, ultimately, secured a job at the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office where I worked as an Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Bureau.  I began by prosecuting white collar and public integrity cases.  When the clergy sexual abuse scandal broke, the Attorney General at the time assigned me, along with another attorney, to lead the investigation into whether the Diocese of Manchester endangered the welfare of children by mismanaging sexually abusive clergy.  That investigation resulted in a historic agreement whereby the Diocese admitted that it likely committed a criminal offense, agreed to the disclosure of its "secret" archive and submitted to yearly state audits to ensure that it was compliant with its own standards and State law.  Thereafter, I was assigned to the Homicide Unit where I served as a lead prosecutor in murder trials and was proud to prosecute various cases, including State v. Lucio Fernandez, State v. James Hall and State v. Dwayne Thompson.  During my time at the AG's office I became acquainted with the law firm of Shaheen & Gordon, appreciated its work and its sense of humor. As my family grew, so did my interest in returning to private practice. I was hired by Shaheen & Gordon in 2004, the Firm invited me to be a Shareholder soon thereafter and I now serve as the Firm's Vice President and as a member of its Management Committee.  My legal practice focuses on defending criminal cases and DWI/DUI/OUI charges.  I have successfully resolved and tried countless cases.  During my time with the Firm, I have been honored to have been named to the Union Leader's "40 Under 40" list in 2005 and to the New England Superlawyers list of Rising Stars in the area of criminal defense in 2008 and 2009.  In 2010, Governor Lynch named me to the Judicial Selection Commission, which is responsible for investigating, interviewing and recommending to the Governor qualified candidates for State court judicial vacancies.
