From the moment I walked in , Mr. Bak spent most of his time trying to convince me that I should switch all my investment planning and my mother's to him.I kept trying to redirect him back to the business at hand, redoing my Will and Revocable Trust without any success. At one point I told him if he mentioned switching assets to the annuities he handled I would walk out, he settled down. BUT, it took a long time to get the papers done, He also required 50% deposit which I was a fool to give him. I go in to sign the papers with my partner and to talk about how to deal with our joint property as we are not married. He again, began with his talk about having the smartest method of investing . My partner is a very savvy investor and he basically told Mr Bak to tone it down . We left planning to return when the additional trust document was completed. Over 6 months passed and I get a letter from Mr. Bak at the end of the year asking us to return the documents and come in to sign them ( we NEVER received any documents ) I sent him a Certified Letter stating we were done with his services. But, for these simple docs I ended up paying $1200 AND worse, this year I had them looked at by another attorney and they were not even done correctly. Basically $1200 down the drain !
I only wish there were other sites to rate this man and his practice ... STAY AWAY !
My Mother had hired Walter Bak to help with her estate planning. Before she could review and sign her paper work, will, ect she passed away. My siblings and I went to Mr Bak after her passing and initiated probate action, which involved signing papers. Some of the papers were who would be executor of her estate, which was me. I called his office weekly to follow up and see how things were going. Every time I spoke to Mr Bak his answer was the same probate court moves very slowly. After calling weekly for approx. four (4) months i spoke to his secretary. She informed me that the papers haven't been filed with the court yet. I asked her why and her response was he hasn't brought the paper work to the court to file the papers, and she didn't understand why it was taking so long as he goes to the court house 3-4 times a week. For FOUR (4) months Mr Bak had lied to me stating he had filed the paper work! I immediately obtained a new lawyer. Whom settled the estate in less than Three (3) months. Mr Bak sent a bill for his work for $1200.00. I couldn't believe it!!! $1200.00 for approx. two hours of work? From what I could tell, because there was no itemized bill breaking down the work he had done. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID!!! Retain someone else!!
