    Antitrust / Trade Law

Antitrust and trade lawyers specialize in regulations governing what businesses can and cannot do in attempting to gain a competitive edge. Antitrust laws prohibit one company from controlling or monopolizing the market for goods or services. A famous example is the government's case against Microsoft for allegedly bundling its Internet Explorer web browser with Windows software in an attempt to dominate the Internet browser market space. Trade laws deal with practices like stealing proprietary data or mailing lists, spreading false rumors about a product, or pricing a product below cost to lure another company's customers. Claims of unfair competition (gaining customers at the expense of a competitor) can be expensive for everyone involved. Antitrust and trade attorneys can defend you against these claims, or provide support if you are the victim of unfair competition.
