great info! I presume then there is no specific timeframe to claim threat/abuse....meaning that to file for restraining order there does not need to be an imminent threat..am I correct to assume this or is it actually based on imminent abuse/threat.

Whether a threat is "imminent" or not is important, but not typically the critical factor. The critical factor, at least in my view, is whether the statement was intended to induce fear.
